Crazy Times

It appears that I forgot to post even a little Hi last week. We were sort of having the crazies around here.

Cousin L. left on Monday.

I had prepared all of the tot time materials for the week – the color Purple – and set them out on the shelf. They are still sitting there as we speak. R. did play with the purple play-doh a little and the pipe cleaner/sugar shaker activity. Other then that, everything was untouched.

Why you may ask? Like I said, we have had the crazies around here. After L. left, we began to clean and relax a little – maybe a little too much. We also had some warmer weather ~ if you can call the 30’s warmer ~ so we spent a lot of time outside playing.

And then…..On Friday, hubby’s brother and his girlfriend came for a visit. So we visited and played with R for the weekend. No real big excuses for not posting, more just relaxing and catching up and cleaning, and just being crazy! The CRAZIES were here, but I think they are on their way out!

We are going to keep out the color purple this week, however we will throw in the color yellow. This keeps us on track and we will do Rainbow and review the colors during St. Patrick's Day. I know, St. Patrick's Day should be about green, but leprechauns and Rainbows, and gold all go together…..And we did Green way at the beginning – I think it was our 3rd Color! OOPS. Bad planning on my part. So hopefully Friday or Saturday will bring a better post about Tot-Time.

And as for the rest of this week, Well It’s suppose to be warmer but rainy so we should be inside most days. I will be cleaning like crazy – Spring Cleaning Time and I am ready to go through everything. We will also be getting our new recliners and finishing our floor in the basement. Then comes moving the toys, so we should be pretty busy I guess!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Week!

Photo Editing Fun

So we ventured outdoors to take a quick photoshoot...Possible 18 month pictures.

Well, R. had different ideas. She was not happy about it.

These are all the same picture, just different editing. Let me know which one you like the best!

On an unrelated note.....This is blog entry #99 for me. It's hard to believe I've wrote/published 99 blog entries. Look out for blog entry #100 coming soon. Maybe something fun and special!

Our 6 Day Visitor

R’s cousin L. visited and stayed with us while his mommy, daddy, sister and brother ventured to Florida to go to Disney World, Sea World, GatorLand and Circ Du Solei.  They are having a weeks worth of fun and R. and L. are having fun entertaining each other.  L is 19.5 months and R. is 18 months so they are almost the exact same age.  They have had a great week hanging out together.

Eating some yummy lunch…Spaghettio’s, peas, and apple fries.

A favorite this week was looking out the patio door to see what was going on outside.  The first 4 days were too cold to go outside.  BRRRR

They did decide to squat down and say cheese once.  Aren’t they cute and don’t they look like trouble?

Again, Looking out the patio door.  They were wishing they could go outside.

L. really liked R.’s pink hat.  Doesn’t he just look pretty?

The sensory tub was also a hit.  L. doesn’t get to play in one normally so he really enjoyed it.  It was filled with Rainbow Rice and all things Orange for our Orange theme.

Here L. is texting (pretend texting) his mommy.  Phones were another big hit.  My cousin and aunt and one of their friends came down Friday night and stayed until Sunday morning.  They were constantly giving the kids their phones…..Something we don’t usually do.

We were finally able to venture outside and play on Sunday.  The kids had fun running up and down the driveway, helping to scoop the snow, and watching hubby push the snow off of the roof of the house.

Overall it was a pretty fun 6 days.  L slept through the night and adjusted well to being not at home.  No major tears except for when I went to wash his blanket and when it was bath time.  For some reason he did not enjoy bath time at all.

It will be nice to get back to normal though.  L’s family comes back to pick him up tonight and we will be back to our normal routine and what not.  It was definitely fun having him around for the 6 days though.

Tot Time - Orange

This is a fairly long post, but we did a wide variety of activities this week and apparently I had the camera ready to shoot pics of her whenever we did activities.

Our theme this week was the color Orange.  R. enjoyed playing in the rainbow rice with various orange objects placed inside.  She really liked the orange screwdriver and also poking the orange pom-poms down under the rice.

I recently bought R. this new Melissa and Doug puzzle.  It really amazes me how well she can do it.  She matches all of the pieces to the right spot.  She does struggle getting them turned exactly right, however this is getting better.

These are the lacing beads I purchased from the Dollar Tree last week.  They are a little rough on the inside and so the string sticks and makes them difficult to get on.  Hubby is going to take a drill bit to them to smooth them out a little.  R. likes to play with them, and I noticed that she does not like the yellow cubes.  She picked all of the other beads, but not the cubes.

R. loved playing with orange Play-doh.  She has played with it various times before but never really got into it.  This time she tore little pieces off and squished it.

I made some stampers for R. to use with some orange paint.  I stuck foam stickers onto some left-over wooden blocks from a christmas present.  As you can tell she loved this.

I also let her paint with some porcupine balls. This was not as fun for her as I thought it would be.  She was finished fairly quickly and wasn’t a fan of having the paint on her hands.

DSC_8078

She also discovered that it shouldn’t go on the face or in the mouth.  YUCK!

And as always, a favorite activity was placing sticks into the sugar shaker.  Orange sticks to be exact.

And now for the photoshoot from Monday.  Every time I would say look at mommy or say cheese, this is what I got…..

Red Head

I just realized that I had promised pictures of the new “RED HEAD” wall in our house and hadn’t yet put them up.  Red Head was the name of the color.  I love the way it turned out and absolutely love it with the dark wood frames and shelves that we have hanging up.

This picture looks a tad bit oranger then what it actually is.  Silly indoor lighting.

DSC_8061

I am still hoping to get a the saying: “Life is not measured by the amount of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away” to put under the long shelf.  I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. It will happen sometime though.
